League of Legends Champion Sneak Peek: Ao Shin

Ao Shin is Riot designer's new idea. It's another game design with cultural characteristic brought by Riot Games on China S3qualifier. It's not the next new champion, but we still expect its coming.
 Let's say what Riot says:

“As the League of Legends community expands and grows around the world, so too do our influences and inspirations for the game. We thought it would be fun to give you guys a very early peek at one of the champions we're working on while he's still in the early stages. Meet Ao Shin, a powerful storm dragon and guardian of the natural world. Legend holds that when Ionia faces its greatest crisis, Ao Shin will descend from the sky.

Let's start with the inspiration for his name: Ao is the family name of the mythological dragon kings, who rule water and weather. This tells us right away that this is a powerful, elegant being, above the concerns and rules of men. Shin can mean many things, one of which is prosperity. It also means a rising storm. Ao Shin embodies this elemental duality, capable of raining good fortune on his allies and, in the very next breath, bringing stormy, thunderous ruin upon his foes.

The community's been asking for a dragon champion for some time, but we knew we couldn't just do any dragon. With each new champ, we try and push the limits of what's technically and creatively possible. Ao Shin is no different. One of the challenges we're looking forward to tackling is how to capture his unique anatomy and movement in a way that brings a new dimension to the champion pool. It's too early to go into much detail, but we're really excited about the ways this champion will move across the battlefield.

Ao Shin isn't the next champion scheduled to come out, so he's still a ways off and many things are still subject to change. But we wanted to share our inspiration with you and give you a look at the early thought processes that go into champ design. Hopefully you're as excited about his potential as we are to keep working on him!”

Morello on S4 changes

Recently, Riot designer Morello talked about the league of legends mechanism adjustment in S4.

We're starting our prototypes this week - fixing lots of longstanding issues... Xypherous, Statikk and @RiotFeralPony will be doing some info gathering and light info in the coming months. Big ideas are changes to ward/vision systems, game pacing, and yes, support/jungler gold changes!

Q: Will melee carry be enhanced, just like what you do to Master Yi?

Morello: It depends on the remake result of Master Yi.

Q: Will there be more map graphics alterations such as the winter map/Halloween map like the past few seasons?

Morello: Not this year.

Burning Vengeance Selected Guide: the Forgotten Powerful APC

Champion Analysis:

Brand is a mage with high burst who’s not inferior to Annie. In addition, his ability on lane is stronger than Annie’s. Almost no champion can suppress Brand due to his super remote attack range. Upgrade W in early game at first. At level 1, you can find the opportunity to attack the opponent several times, and you may consume much of his health with the skill damage and passive effect. Upgrade E at level 2 and level up Q at level 3. Then utilize the combo to suppress your enemy. Meanwhile, control your mana and suppress the opponent while dealing last hitting. After reaching level 6, you can almost kill an opponent with E-Q-W-R. Try to join some small – scale team fight in mid game. Brand should use the combo differing from that in 1v1 when he joins team fight in late game. He can use W to consume enemies as much as possible after allies cast skill first. Use E when the target is ablaze and let most enemies ablaze. Then cast R decisively. Thus you can maximize the output of Brand while you can save Q for opponent dashers. When they get close to you, you can control them at the first time so as to ensure survivability in team fight.

Champion:

Summoner Spells:

Runes:

When laning against AD champion on mid lane, you can change the seal to Flat Deal of Armor, replace glyph with Glyph of Mana Regen and Glyph of Cooldown Reduction and you can remain the mark and quintessence.

Masteries:

Mid lane mage focuses on burst, so I put points on masteries of magic damage, magic penetration and damage increase on Offense.

Utility: Put full points on Meditation and Runic Affinity.

This set of masteries is common for mid lane mages which mainly increases consuming ability on lane in early game and sustainability.

Items:

Starting Items:

4*.You can also consider 4*、4*or . It depends on your gameplay style and opponent on lane. In very rare cases, you can bring as the starting item unless you are confident of your tactic. Try to equip 2* the first time you go back to town.

Mid Game Items:

There are two solutions for Brand currently. The first one is to start with as they can bring nice output ability in early and mid game which fits for the gank play style of Brand. The passive of offers extra considerable damage after utilizing the slow effect, and when cooperating with Brand’s passive which deals a total of 8% maximum health, at least 1/6 health of the opponent will be consumed from blaze upon hitting by a skill. It’s horrible. I suggest this set of items in balanced and unfavorable situations. Later, you can equip to maximize the output.

You can consider and then in favorable situation or when you get used to equip . The advantages are: stacking highest magic damage in shortest time, fast farming speed and magic damage in late game can be higher than the former one. The defect is high cost and you may slow down the game pace if you’re not in favorable situation. As to boots, I choose and . I think they are suitable for Brand since the mobility is key for him to chase or kite.

Luxury Items in Late Game:

Favorable Situation:

Unfavorable Situation:

Laning Items:

Lux: Tear of the Goddess

Brand: Haunting Guise

The purpose of Lux’s equipping Tear of the Goddess is to increase her ability to stay on lane for a long time in order to consume you for a long time. For Brand with high burst in early game, he must gain certain momentum through his strengths. The passive effect of Haunting Guise maximizes Brand’s damage so that he can kill Lux with a set of skills.

Abilities:

Skill Points Analysis

R>W>Q>E. All skills rely on E to deal the special effect. Learn W at level 1, E at level 2 and Q at level 3. Then upgrade them based on the preference above to maximize the damage.

Skill Analysis:

Sear (Q)

Explanation: It’s often used to control the opponent. A great output skill in itself. The fatal strike in the output cycle of Brand.

Pillar of Flame (W)

Explanation: Brand’s skill with highest output ability which can deal tons of damage instantly.

Conflagration (E)

Explanation: Core skill. All special effects can be activated after blasting the target with fire. You don’t need to place full points on the skill in early game as it’s a media.

Pyroclasm (R)

Explanation: It can deal multiple kills with nice consecutive damage.

Laning Points:

Lux: Q

Brand: Q

Both Lux’s and Brand’s Q are skillshots, so Brand can cast Q on Lux if Lux uses Q in close range. And a good Brand player will stun the opponent Lux at the moment. Seize the opportunity to cast a set of combos and Lux will be with low health though she survives.
